"Buy 4 You" Car Gang Takes Synthetic ID To The Next Level 😈

Hello From FrankonFraud,

The week's big news was that the jury convicted Sam Bankman Fried on 7 counts of fraud, and he now faces up to 115 years in prison. 😲

But something else caught my eye this week, and it was interesting. “Buy 4 U” services, which sprouted up at online retailers during the pandemic, are now spreading to online auto retailers.

Here are the top stories at a glance. 👇

Let’s dig into the top stories of the week!

“Car Gang” Buys Cars For You With Synthetic Identities

It’s Grand Theft Auto but with a new wrinkle. And this scheme is blowing my mind. 🤯

The “Car Gang” has set up Facebook and Telegram channels to offer a new all-in-one car-buying service using newly created synthetic identities.

Think of them as professional synthetic identity hit men. They do all the dirty work, so keep your hands clean. 🖐️

The gang does all the dirty work of creating a synthetic identity for you, and even orders the car, so you only have to accept delivery at an address of your choice.

Watch Video - How Romance Scammers DeepFake Video Calls With Victims

It used to be the case that Romance Scammers could never fully engage their victims because they could never pull off a realistic Facetime call with their victims.

But that is changing with new apps like Xpression Camera, which offers real-time video fakes using any uploaded photo.

He Got Deep Faked By AI Voice Clone And Lost $17,000

He is the latest victim of deepfake voice cloning and ransom scams that are sweeping the country.

"The phone rang, and he answered the phone, and heard a man say this is Sgt. Matthew. Your son-in-law has been in a serious accident,"

He said a man claiming to be with the San Antonio Police Department called, saying that since his son-in-law was at fault for a crash, he was in jail.

That's when his son in law got on the phone to explain his predicament and that he needed $9,000 to get bailed out of jail, (or so he thought).

Shunned By The Bank. What Happens To Innocent Customers After A SAR Is Filed?

“You feel like you’re walking around wearing this scarlet letter,” said Caroline Potter, whose Citibank accounts were shut down abruptly last year.

An interesting article this week in the New York Times investigates reports that banks are filing more SARs and shutting small business owners out of their accounts.

Even when they are innocent.

Remember CNC Motors? The Owners Are In Big Trouble Now

Did you hear about this massive luxury car fraud scheme at this dealership in So Cal?

Suspicions about something going terribly wrong at CNC Motors originally surfaced in March 2021. when a Youtube video alleging a “massive fraud involving potentially 40+ fraudulent deals” was released.

This was the video that launched the scandal 👇

Apparently the dealership got into big problems when they would take people’s luxury cars to sell then on consignment but never returned the cars or gave the owners their money!

Fast forward 2 years later and the law has finally caught up them!

The 12 Scammiest Phone Numbers In The US

I don’t even answer my phone anymore. I get 2-3 scam calls a day.

And now, I have 12 phone numbers that I will immediately block on my phone so that they never come through.

BeenVerified analyzed over 150,000 suspicious phone calls and identified 12 phone numbers associated with the most fraud and scams.

China Is Launching An Attack On Pig Butchering Scam Centers

They are some of the most evil and horrific places on the planet - Pig Butchering compounds.

By some estimates, there may be as many as 200,000 slaves that are entrapped in these centers that are scattered throughout Southeast Asia but are now proliferating throughout many other parts of the world.

This week, the Wall Street Journal reports that the Chinese government is embarrassed by the level of fraud being carried out by Chinese nationals in Southeast Asia, and they are launching an assault on the compounds.

Is Meta Finally Stepping Up To Scams?

Thanks to Jake Emry for bringing this rare positive news about Meta to my attention.

Apparently Meta, the parent company of Facebook, has pledged support for a new UK online fraud charter on Facebook MarketPlace. Facebook Market Place is a virtual devils den of scammers and fraudsters that descend on victims like Piranhas whenever someone logs in to the platform.

Everyone’s Getting Hit. Ransomware Attacks Soar Over 153% Higher

It’s an epidemic. Ransomware attacks are soaring as more firms are opting to pay the ransom rather than roll the dice with hackers.

This week, one of the largest mortgage servicers in the nation was hit by a cyberattack that some suspect is a ransomeware attempt. And last month, two of the largest casinos in the world were hit as well.

NCC Group released its Threat Pulse for September, which detailed a shocking increase of 153% in September for ransomware attacks.

Pen Testers And Geeks Love The Flipper Zero. Would You Buy One?

The Flipper Zero seems to be all the rage these days with pen testers as well as hackers. I am tempted to buy one to see what kind of things it can do.

It costs about $170 and the pocket-size pen-testing device can intercept and replay all kinds of wireless signals—including NFC, infrared, RFID, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi. That means it's possible to read microchips and inspect signals being admitted from devices.

But it’s also being used for more nefarious purposes.

Over the last few weeks, the Flipper Zero, which costs around $170, has been gaining some traction for its ability to disrupt iPhones, particularly by sending them into denial of service (DoS) loops.

Vegans Are Horrified. Steak Umm Is Going Big On DeepSteak AI

In a bizarre public service announcement, Steak-umm created deepfake videos of vegans eating meat — and then played those same manipulated videos back to the horrified vegans.

It’s all part of an advertising campaign and a website they launched called DeepSteaks.ai

The campaign is all about trying to make Steak-umm which many believe is fake steak, seem real.
